I just found out that Robert Laxalt died in 2001. I’m a little shocked that I didn’t hear about it until now. Mr. Laxalt was the author of In a Hundred Graves, a Basque Portrait; a small book of short prose about the Basque country that I love dearly. His Wikipedia page is here.
